Senna Sound, a new audio manufacturer located in Serbia, has unveiled its inaugural trio of products: the Orca preamplifier, the Onyx power amplifier, and the Phoenix phono amplifier. These devices are designed with a relatively compact and minimalist aesthetic, allowing them to complement each other visually.
Senna Sound was established by Nemanja Cokic, who aims to provide cutting-edge products characterized by clarity, musicality, and immersive sound experiences. While the devices are designed to be enjoyable, their primary goal is to evoke emotions and forge a connection between the listener and the artist behind the music.
Currently, the manufacturer has not disclosed extensive information about its operations. However, the initial three products have been unveiled and are available on the Senna Sound website. We will take a moment to explore the Orca, Onyx, and Phoenix models.
Senna Sound Orca: Class A preamplifier with three RCA inputs
The Orca is a minimalist preamplifier with three RCA inputs. The compact housing measures 280 x 200 x 85 millimeters and the Orca weighs six kilograms. The device operates in class A and the specified frequency range is from 5 Hz (-1 dB) to 250 kHz (-3 dB).
Senna Sound promises that every signal is precisely amplified without losing the essence of the original sound. According to the designers, the Orca stands for unparalleled precision, transparency and control.
Senna Sound Onyx: Class AB power amplifier
The Onyx power amplifier has the same footprint as the Orca, i.e. 280 x 200 millimeters, but the Onyx is slightly larger at 127 millimeters. It weighs 6.5 kilograms. The specified frequency response ranges from 5 Hz (-1 dB) to 250 kHz (-3 dB). The Onyx, which operates in class AB, can deliver 45 watts per channel into eight ohms and 70 watts into four ohms.
The manufacturer claims to have built circuits with advanced thermal management and ultra-low distortion. Music signal comes in via a stereo cinch input. The illumination of the VU meters on the front can be switched on/off with a button on the rear panel.
Senna Sound Phoenix: phono amplifier for MM and MC cartridges
Phono amplifier Phoenix has two inputs, one for MM cartridges and the other for MC cartridges. A knob on the front panel allows the user to select between the inputs. For MM cartridges, a selector switch on the rear panel is available to select between 47 kOhm and 100 kOhm impedance. For MC cartridges, a rotary knob on the front panel allows the user to select between 10, 100, 500 and 1000 Ohms. The specified output impedance is 680 Ohms.
Music signal comes out via a stereo cinch output. The Phoenix also has a footprint of 280 x 200 millimeters and a height of 86 millimeters.
