If you are an enthusiast of the 2022 Sony LinkBuds TWS earbuds, you might have been looking forward to their successor, the LinkBuds 2, which were initially leaked in March. Regrettably, it appears that the launch of these open-back earbuds will be postponed longer than anticipated.
A recent update from the Walkman Blog reveals that Sony submitted a revocation of approval for the YY2964 (also known as LinkBuds 2) to the FCC on August 9, indicating that “…the release date for this product will be delayed…”. On a positive note, the document mentions, “Once a release date is determined, we would like to recertify with the same FCC ID AK8YY2964.”
Although the Sony LinkBuds 2 TWS earbuds were anticipated to be revealed on September 12, recent documents indicate that they remain under development, with no confirmed release date as of yet. Given the strong competition from products like the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds, Sony may be inclined to take additional time to refine this new model to ensure it stands out in the market. Currently, details regarding the Sony LinkBuds 2 TWS earbuds are limited. There are rumors suggesting that the earbuds will be available in both black and white, and they may include a proximity sensor that automatically pauses and resumes playback based on whether the earbuds are being worn. That is the extent of the information available at this time.
