Anthem STR Power Amplifier: A powerful classic designed and crafted in Canada

The Anthem STR Power Amplifier provides substantial power output while maintaining audiophile-grade sound quality.

The Anthem STR Power Amplifier is equipped with two robust toroidal transformers, delivering a fully dual-mono design. It features a soft start mechanism with four options for powering on and off, and it operates without onboard fuses. The proprietary Advanced Load Monitoring™ (ALM™) technology guarantees system integrity by continuously monitoring internal temperature, current, and voltage without causing distortion. The front panel includes a graphic display that shows power levels and status indicators, facilitating straightforward setup and navigation within the system.

The Anthem STR Power Amplifier features a unique input/output topology that diverges from traditional differential input stage designs. It employs eight low-noise bipolar input devices arranged in a cascaded feedback system with an active load, resulting in minimized distortion, enhanced linearity, and broader bandwidth. Critical transistors within the system are meticulously hand-selected and matched to achieve the lowest distortion levels. Each channel is equipped with sixteen bipolar output devices, and in a Class AB configuration, this setup effectively lowers distortion while ensuring high linearity, extensive bandwidth, and dependable performance.

The amplifier delivers a power output of up to 800 watts per channel when connected to a two-ohm load, necessitating the use of suitable terminal blocks. Beyond standard power-on methods, the STR power amplifier offers a versatile combination of trigger mode and input signal, eliminating the need for manual operation to power the amplifier on or off. This feature is particularly advantageous when utilizing the preamplifier in bypass mode within a home theater setup alongside a surround sound processor.

The Anthem STR Preamplifier and Power Amplifier combination clearly serves as a foundational element for a high-quality stereo system, while also functioning effectively within a modern home theater setup. Regardless of the music selection, the Anthem STR aims to deliver an optimal blend of clarity and comfortable listening. Michel Camillo’s vibrant rendition of Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” exemplifies this, radiating joyful grandeur. The Anthem STR adeptly refines the nuances of the concert recording, maintaining the emotional depth of the vocalist’s performance alongside the dynamic energy of the accompanying instruments.
