Audioengine makes compact and easy-to-use speaker sets, and the brand has given the existing Audioengine A2+ a cheerful paint job to announce its upcoming spring release. The Limoncello Yellow version of the active desktop speakers will be joined by a similarly colored S6 subwoofer, and to top it all off, buyers can also add a Crosley Limoncello Yellow turntable to the package.

Audioengine has a tradition of linking a specific color to a calendar year. The Color of the Year 2026 is Limoncello Yellow, in high gloss, and this color will be applied to the existing Audioengine A2+. This limited edition A2+ Home Music System continues the annual tradition of the Color of the Year, according to the company, with a vibrant finish that adds energy and character to any listening room. The A2+ is exclusive to the Color of the Year 2026 and features the latest Bluetooth 5.3 with aptX Adaptive. Each unit is produced in small quantities and is designed to be placed on your desk or bookshelf every day, according to the American manufacturer. The Limoncello Yellow version joins the existing colors.

Rather than giving one product a fresh coat of paint and calling it a launch, Audioengine went big. Limoncello Yellow is the color of the A2+ Home Music System, the S6 Subwoofer, the DS1M speaker stands, and the Crosley C6 turntable, all finished in the same shade. The result feels purposeful, not improvised; bright without being tacky, and perfectly timed for anyone who's seen enough gray skies to last a lifetime. Spring can't come soon enough, can it?

Every Audioengine product in the collection uses real wood cabinets finished with a 13-step piano lacquer process. This involves sealing, applying multiple coats of paint, curing, hand-polishing, and a thorough final inspection, because quick fixes are noticed. The same high-gloss finish is applied to the A2+ Home Music System, the S6 Subwoofer, and the DS1M speaker stands, ensuring a true color match instead of looking similar under varying lighting conditions.

Each speaker delivers approximately 20 watts RMS per channel into four ohms, with a peak power of 30 watts. This is more than enough for short-range listening, in apartments or offices, without claiming to replace a full-fledged audio system.
Connectivity is simple and flexible. Bluetooth 5.3 is on board with support for aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, standard aptX, AAC and SBC, so wireless playback works smoothly whether you're using an Android, iOS or a laptop device. For wired sources, there's a USB-C digital audio input supporting up to 24-bit/96kHz, along with analogue RCA and 3.5mm jack inputs, making it easy to connect computers, streamers, turntables with built-in phono preamps or virtually any other device with an output.

DAC conversion is handled by a PCM5100A DAC, chosen for its reliability and pristine performance. Noise and distortion are well controlled, with an S/N ratio of over 95 dB and a THD+N of less than 0.05 percent at all power levels. Frequency response extends from 65 Hz to 22 kHz, which is realistic for a speaker of this size and pairs well with a subwoofer like the Audioengine S6 for more bass.
The two-way speakers feature a 2.75-inch aramid fiber woofer and a 0.75-inch silk dome tweeter with neodymium magnets, tuned, according to the designers, for clarity and balance rather than artificial exaggeration. Protective circuits monitor output current, thermal limits, and switch-on and switch-off peaks, ensuring the system behaves well even under heavy loads.

Audioengine S6: compact subwoofer
Measuring 25.4 x 22.1 x 25.4 cm (10 x 8.6 x 10 inches) and weighing just over 7 kilograms (15.5 pounds), the S6 subwoofer fits under or next to a desk without getting in the way. A front-firing 6-inch driver in a sealed enclosure is driven by a Class D amplifier rated at 140 watts RMS (210 watts peak), delivering controlled bass response down to 33 Hz. Adjustable volume control, crossover frequency adjustment (between 40 and 130 Hz), and phase control (0-180 degrees) facilitate integration with small powered speakers or compact systems from Audioengine and other brands.
Crosley C6: turntable

The Crosley C6 turntable is a two-speed, manually operated record player built around a simple design. It uses a high-quality MDF plinth combined with a heavy steel platter to provide a stable platform for vinyl playback. A belt-driven, low-vibration motor is located beneath the platter and supports records at speeds of 33 1/3 and 45 rpm.
The tonearm features an adjustable counterweight and anti-skating, and the turntable comes with a pre-installed Audio-Technica cartridge. Connectivity is flexible, with a built-in, bridgeable phono stage for direct connection to active speakers or integrated amplifiers, and RCA outputs for systems that already have a phono input. Bluetooth is also integrated for wireless playback when convenience is more important than wiring.
