Garmin has officially stepped into the luxury home audio market with the launch of the new JL Audio Primacy series — an ambitious range of active loudspeakers and streaming electronics designed for premium living spaces and reference-grade music playback. The move further expands Garmin’s audio ambitions following its acquisition of JL Audio in 2023, a brand long respected for high-performance marine, automotive, and custom installation audio systems.
With Primacy, the company is now targeting the ultra high-end residential market with a fully integrated ecosystem built around active speaker technology, advanced DSP processing, network audio, and room optimization.
A Fully Active High-End Loudspeaker Platform
The new Primacy lineup launches with two loudspeaker models: the flagship Primacy T6 floorstanding speaker and the more compact Primacy S3 bookshelf model. Both systems are fully active designs, meaning every driver has its own dedicated amplifier channel and digital crossover management for precise control and optimized performance.

The larger T6 is a three-way floorstander created for full-range reference listening in larger spaces, while the S3 adopts a more compact two-way configuration intended for smaller listening rooms or high-end bookshelf installations.
According to Garmin, both speaker systems utilize 32-bit/192 kHz digital signal processing throughout the signal path, allowing extensive tuning and crossover optimization far beyond what is typically possible with passive loudspeaker systems. The active architecture also enables tighter integration between amplification and drivers, reducing distortion while improving timing accuracy and dynamic control.
Luxury Design With Interchangeable Finishes
Rather than focusing purely on technical performance, Garmin appears equally invested in making the Primacy systems blend naturally into modern interiors. Both speaker models feature interchangeable side panels and finish options designed to complement different living spaces and design styles.
The visual direction leans more toward luxury furniture than traditional hi-fi equipment, positioning the Primacy series as a lifestyle-oriented high-end system without abandoning audiophile ambitions.
The Primacy CS: Streaming Hub and System Brain
At the center of the ecosystem sits the Primacy CS Stereo Centerpiece — a combined network streamer, preamplifier, and system controller designed to manage the entire Primacy platform.

The unit integrates Garmin’s new PARO (Primacy Automatic Room Optimization) technology, which analyzes room acoustics and automatically adjusts playback characteristics to better match the listening environment. The concept follows the growing trend of advanced room correction systems becoming essential in modern high-end audio setups.
Connectivity between Primacy components is handled through Dante network audio technology, enabling high-resolution digital signal transmission across the system with low latency and precise synchronization.
Streaming support includes Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Apple AirPlay, and Google Cast, allowing the system to integrate seamlessly with both audiophile and mainstream streaming platforms.
Users can control the system either through the dedicated Primacy mobile app or via a wireless desktop controller featuring physical volume adjustment and touch-sensitive controls.
Pricing Places Primacy Among Audio’s Elite
Garmin is clearly aiming at the top tier of the high-end market with pricing that places Primacy alongside some of the most exclusive active loudspeaker systems currently available.
The JL Audio Primacy T6 floorstanding speakers are priced at $90,000 per pair, while the Primacy S3 bookshelf speakers cost $35,000 per pair. Dedicated stands for the S3 add an additional $3,500.
The Primacy CS Stereo Centerpiece carries a standalone price of $15,000.
With Primacy, Garmin and JL Audio are making it clear that their ambitions now extend far beyond marine and automotive audio — and directly into the world of luxury high-performance home listening.
