SMSL DS20 is a new portable digital-to-analog converter and headphone amplifier that combines modern circuitry with a compact body. The device uses four DAC chips CS43131 from Cirrus Logic, which provides accurate signal processing with support for PCM up to 32 bit/768 kHz and DSD up to 256. The new third-generation XMOS XU-316 chip is responsible for the fast and stable operation of the USB interface.
The model fully expands MQA files (8x resolution) and also has switchable USB 1.1/2.0 modes for connecting to PCs, smartphones and gaming consoles.
The well-thought-out architecture includes a balanced PLFC gain circuit, a special low-jitter clock signal generation circuit, and a low-noise power supply. All key components, from resistors to capacitors, are selected with an emphasis on operation in audio paths. The built-in battery ensures long-term autonomous operation. The device is JAS (Hi-Res Audio) certified.
