Cambridge Audio Unveils Evo 150 SE: Enhanced Special Edition Streaming Amplifier Launching in July

Cambridge Audio has taken a closer look at and revised its existing Evo 150 integrated amplifier . The company is pleased to announce the Evo 150 SE, an enhanced special edition of the existing streaming amplifier that it claims takes music to a new level. Shipping is set to begin in July.

The Evo 150 features Class D amplification technology. The new NCOREx “Tuned by Cambridge” Class D amplifier modules are highly efficient and compact, yet deliver the musical sound quality desired by Cambridge Audio. They deliver a massive 150 watts per channel into an eight ohm speaker impedance to drive almost any speaker, with few exceptions.

After spending hundreds of hours trying out different component variations and improving the quality of the components that really matter, the manufacturer claims to have succeeded in making the Evo 150 SE sound more detailed, more open, more engaging and downright enjoyable than its award-winning predecessor.

The StreamMagic control app allows audio to be personalized to the listener’s taste. A seven-band equalizer allows the sound to be manually adjusted down to the smallest detail, while a wealth of presets are available to suit various music genres and TV viewing scenarios.

The original Evo 150 won a Red Dot Design Award and the Evo 150 SE refines that design even further. Within the same footprint as a vinyl record sleeve, the Evo 150 SE offers a beautiful large 6.8-inch colour screen. The listener can choose between pure functionality or a touch of retro-chic style. Choose to display the clock, album art and information about the music playing or enjoy the hypnotic dance of two VU meters.

The operation of the Evo 150 SE will not change significantly. The Evo 150 is operated with buttons on the front and with the renewed StreamMagic app.

The Cambridge Evo 150 SE will be available in stores in July and has a suggested retail price of just under $2,400.
