ADCOM has launched its upgraded amplifiers in the States, many of which were crafted by renowned designer Nelson Pass. The company gained acclaim in the past for producing equipment that delivered performance surpassing its price point, but ceased operations around three decades ago. Some experts attribute this closure to reliability issues, stemming from modifications made to the original circuits and transistors without consulting the developer.
Nowadays, the vintage models have undergone enhancements, incorporating modern components while retaining their distinctive design (albeit an acquired taste).
The GFA-555MS ($1,399) and GFA-555se ($1,699) amplifiers, originally designed by Nelson Pass, are already available for purchase. Additionally, the lineup of the revived brand includes the GFP-915 ($999) featuring a built-in MQA-enabled DAC and Bluetooth adapter. Another notable addition is the GFA-585se power amplifier, operating in class AB with an output power of 2 x 600 W at 4 Ohms or 1000 W in bridge connection.
The current owner of the brand, Everest World Company Ltd., headquartered in Bangkok, has acquired the rights not only to the brand itself but also to all Adcom intellectual property, including circuit design.
Production of the equipment is entrusted to third-party companies, including Taiwanese Resonance Electronics and Chinese Quality Technology Electronics.
