8.5

Final Audio has built a strong reputation for focusing on sound quality first, even in its most affordable products. The Japanese brand’s wired models, such as the popular E3000 series, have long been favorites among listeners who value musicality over flashy features. With the ZE2000, Final takes the same philosophy into the world of true wireless earbuds.

Priced around $140, the ZE2000 sits at the more affordable end of the TWS market. But unlike many competitors in this price class, these earbuds are not about long feature lists or flashy specifications. There’s no active noise cancellation, no transparency mode, no auto-pause sensors, and no companion app. Instead, Final has concentrated almost entirely on the one thing that matters most: sound.

Unboxing and accessories

The ZE2000 arrives in a clean, understated box with the minimalist styling you would expect from a Japanese audio brand. Inside, everything is neatly arranged, with the earbuds and case presented separately.

The Final Audio ZE2000 headphones come in a medium-sized box, white in color, with gray and red elements. We see an image of the headphones, on the top left there is the company logo. At the bottom in red it says that these are honest wireless headphones for audio enthusiasts.

In the box you get:

  • Final Audio ZE2000 earbuds

  • Charging case

  • USB-A to USB-C cable

  • Five pairs of ear tips (SS, S, M, L, LL)

  • Documentation

The generous selection of ear tips is particularly welcome, as fit plays a major role in both comfort and sound quality.

In terms of build quality, the case has a little play of about 0.5 mm and this is noticeable when it is closed, in terms of the quality of the plastic, what can I say, it is ordinary here, but considering the price there are no questions, everything is at an average level.

Design, build, and comfort

The ZE2000 follows a simple, lightweight design. Both the case and the earbuds are made from standard plastic, but the overall finish is neat and functional. The case is compact and pebble-shaped, making it easy to carry in a pocket.

Build quality is acceptable for the price, although the lid has a small amount of play when closed. There’s no premium hinge mechanism or rubber damping, but nothing feels fragile either.

Each headphone has the Final Audio logo on the beveled edge, and there are also indicators on it.

The earbuds themselves feature an angular, geometric design with a touch-sensitive control area on each unit. Controls are straightforward and responsive:

Left earbud

  • Single tap: play/pause, answer call

  • Hold: previous track

  • Double tap: volume down

  • Triple tap: voice assistant

Right earbud

  • Single tap: play/pause, answer call

  • Hold: next track

  • Double tap: volume up

  • Triple tap: voice assistant

Fit is one of the ZE2000’s strengths. Despite their slightly bulky shape, they are lightweight and sit securely in the ear. With five tip sizes included, most users should find a comfortable and stable seal.

Passive isolation is modest, and since there’s no active noise cancellation, these are best suited to quieter environments. The microphones are serviceable and comparable to other models in this price range.

Battery life is respectable. While the advertised 7 hours per charge may be optimistic, around 5 hours of real-world listening is realistic, with roughly 25 hours total when using the case.

The manufacturer claims very cool battery life indicators, 7 hours of operation of the headphones and 35 hours with the case, partly this is due to the lack of noise cancellation/transparency modes.

Sound quality

The ZE2000 immediately stands out for its balanced, natural presentation. Instead of a heavy bass boost or exaggerated treble, Final has opted for a more neutral tuning that emphasizes midrange clarity and overall coherence.

The result is a sound signature that feels closer to a good pair of wired earphones than most true wireless designs.

Bass

The low end is full, natural, and nicely textured. There’s enough weight to give music body, but it never feels bloated or overly emphasized.

Fit plays a crucial role here. With the right ear tips and a proper seal, the bass becomes deeper and more articulate. Sub-bass extension is respectable, though not the most powerful in the class. Instead, the focus is on realism and texture rather than sheer impact.

Midrange

This is where the ZE2000 truly shines. The midrange is open, natural, and free from the compression that often affects TWS earbuds.

Vocals sound convincing and lifelike, and instruments have a believable sense of body. The presentation is wide and spacious for a true wireless design, giving music room to breathe. While the earbuds don’t produce a highly precise soundstage, individual elements remain easy to follow.

Treble

The treble is clean, slightly lively, and well controlled. There’s enough energy to bring out details in cymbals and percussion, but it rarely becomes harsh or fatiguing.

Micro-detail is impressive for the price, and the upper range has a sense of air and openness that adds to the overall realism.

Comparing these headphones, you immediately notice how much the Technics AZ60 has a low midrange, the highs are less informative and transparent, the bass is more resonant and less textured. But the Technics have noise reduction/transparency modes.

Comparison: Technics AZ60

Compared to the Technics AZ60, the Final Audio ZE2000 sounds more natural and balanced.

  • Bass: The Technics has more quantity, but less texture and control.

  • Midrange: The ZE2000 is more open and lifelike, while the Technics sounds slightly recessed.

  • Treble: The Final offers more clarity and detail.

However, the Technics still wins on features, thanks to its noise cancellation and transparency modes.

There is no noise cancellation, no transparency, even playback and pause sensors. And what's more, there is not even an application, the materials from which they are made are not expensive, but quite ordinary. But still, the sound, it is incredible in Final Audio ZE2000 for this price, even looking into the more expensive segment, twice as large, it is very difficult to find sound of this level.

Conclusion

The Final Audio ZE2000 is a rare kind of true wireless earbud. It doesn’t try to impress with a long list of features or premium materials. Instead, it focuses almost entirely on sound quality.

And that decision pays off. For its price, the ZE2000 delivers a surprisingly natural, spacious, and musical presentation that’s hard to find even in more expensive TWS models.

If you want wireless earbuds packed with features, look elsewhere. But if your priority is sound—and only sound—the ZE2000 is one of the most compelling options in its class.
