Pioneer VSX-535: Powerful AV receiver that won’t break the bank

Pioneer VSX-535
Pioneer VSX-535

The Pioneer VSX-535 AV receiver offers an impressive array of features and robust audio performance at a competitive price point. Constructed with a metal chassis, this model has a lower profile than its predecessor, facilitating easier placement in various settings. The design adheres to the classic aesthetic typical of the brand, making it user-friendly, even for those who may not be technologically savvy.

The AV receiver features a 5.2 setup and incorporates proprietary Direct Energy amplifiers. This design enables the unit to deliver up to 135 W of output power, making it suitable for handling complex acoustic environments. A notable aspect of the Pioneer VSX-535 is its inclusion of Dolby Atmos and Dolby Surround decoders within its 5-channel configuration. This allows users to establish a surround sound system in a 3.2.1 configuration using only the front channels or to activate the Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer mode in a 5.1 setup. While this provides an impressive audio experience, it may differ slightly from the capabilities of true Atmos systems.

The receiver also supports additional processing for both five-channel and two-channel audio. Furthermore, it features an MCACC auto-calibration system, which adjusts the sound output based on the type and arrangement of the speakers in your home theater. Additionally, this model is equipped with a 32-bit DSP from Cirrus Logic and an AK4438 DAC that supports 32-bit/384 kHz specifications.

The AV receiver features four HDMI inputs that facilitate 4K Ultra HD video output, along with support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision. Additionally, it includes three analog inputs, as well as optical and coaxial connections, plus a USB port that delivers 5-volt power to compatible devices. This design enhances the ease of connecting various external media devices, such as the GoogleCast streamer, to the Pioneer VSX-535.

For wireless connectivity, the AV receiver is also integrated with a Bluetooth receiver, allowing seamless pairing with smartphones or tablets. Furthermore, it comes with a user-friendly remote control that ensures straightforward access to all its functionalities.
