The DA470 is designed to serve as the hub of a digital audio system. For those looking to elevate their digital media experience—whether it be from a CD player, (cable) tuner, music server/streamer, or computer—Van Medevoort Audio presents the vM DA470 stereo DAC as the ideal solution. The vM DA470 enhances musical performance through the incorporation of two vM superclocks, featuring eight buffered superclock outputs that cater to various individual disciplines and standard formats, including PCM, DoP, and native DSD, supporting resolutions up to 768kHz PCM and 12.288MHz DSD512. The implementation of ASRC (Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter) ensures that all incoming signals are upsampled to this high resolution prior to being processed by the two dedicated DA DSD converter chips (one for each channel), ultimately converting them into an analog signal. Additionally, the DA converter boasts an impressive array of eight digital inputs, with the capability to switch three of them to eleven.
A notable feature of the vM DA470 is its versatility; in addition to coaxial, XLR, and optical SPDif connections, it allows users to connect all standard digital signals from a streamer or PC via the USB input. Furthermore, it includes two Q-Link (i2s) inputs, one of which is specifically designed for compatibility with both existing and future CD drives from Van Medevoort, making the Van Medevoort DA converter a highly adaptable solution.
Van Medevoort possesses unparalleled expertise, derived from extensive experience in recording studios, which underscores the importance of foundational elements for authentic sound reproduction. Consequently, as with all Van Medevoort products, meticulous care has been devoted to the power supply of both analogue and digital circuits. For instance, the DA converter is equipped with two toroidal transformers and an impressive six discrete power supplies. This design ensures that all analogue and digital components receive isolated power, leading to a presentation of music that is effortless, quiet, detailed, and, most importantly, highly musical.
The recommended retail price for the DA470 is slightly below $6,000. Van Medevoort has also indicated that a CD drive named the CT470 will be released in the future, along with a more affordable DA converter known as the DA360, which will be priced lower than the DA470.
