The German brand Loewe has been around for over a century and is best known for its televisions. The Loewe Leo is Loewe’s very first pair of headphones, and it’s a wireless over-ear model. With a price tag of just under $1,300, Loewe is targeting the high end of the market. A very limited edition, adorned with gemstones, will also be released, with a six-figure price tag.
Loewe Leo: the lion among headphones?

The designers have placed the DAC and amplification in the Loewe Leo close together. A high-quality DAC is paired with a Texas Instruments amplifier, which drives precisely tuned 50-millimeter drivers. These drivers utilize OCE (Olefin Composite Elastomer) diaphragms, a material chosen for its lightweight yet durable properties, designed to provide fast response, natural damping, and clarity across the entire frequency spectrum. Loewe emphasizes that this enables the headphones to deliver clear vocals, crisp highs, and smooth, controlled bass.
Loewe Leo: Support for hi-res and modern codecs

The Loewe Leo supports a wide range of advanced audio formats and technologies, including Hi-Res Audio Wireless, Spatial Audio, Dolby Atmos, and Bluetooth LE Audio. For high-quality streaming, the LC3+ codec is supported up to 24-bit/96 kHz. The headphones also feature adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) with a transparency mode, allowing users to adapt to different listening environments.

The Loewe app expands its functionality with Mimi Sound Personalization, which tailors the sound to the user’s individual hearing profile. This feature optimizes playback for each ear, enhancing both detail and comfort during long listening sessions.

Loewe Leo: operation
The Loewe Leo features a range of smart features, including voice assistant support, real-time AI translation, and multipoint connectivity, allowing simultaneous pairing with multiple devices. It offers up to 65 hours of battery life, and fast charging via USB-C provides added convenience while traveling.
Controls are handled via a combination of tactile dials and touch-sensitive surfaces on the earcups. This hybrid approach allows for both intuitive gestures and precise manual adjustments.
Loewe Leo: focus on sustainability
Sustainability was central to the development of the Loewe Leo. Many components of the headphones are designed to be repairable, replaceable, and upgradeable, which, according to Loewe, aligns with its longstanding approach to craftsmanship and sustainability. The construction combines anodized aluminum with genuine leather ear cushions, aiming for a balance between strength, comfort, and durability. Loewe positions this as an example of luxury and corporate responsibility, producing headphones that are both premium and practical for long-term use.
Loewe Leo Bespoke Edition created with Jacob & Co.: maximum bling

For high-end collectors, Loewe has partnered with jeweler Jacob & Co. to produce a limited, bespoke edition. Only ten pieces will be produced, each encrusted with approximately 12 carats of precious stones. These editions command a six-figure price tag and represent the most exclusive interpretation of the Loewe Leo design.

The Loewe Leo headphones are available in midnight blue and moonlight beige. The suggested retail price is just under $1,300. The Jacob & Co. edition is limited to just ten units worldwide and carries a six-figure price tag.
