The MoFi StudioDeck is a record player that combines advanced technical solutions with a sleek design. Its purpose is to provide a precise and uncolored reproduction of the music on your vinyl records. This commitment to authenticity is evident in all of MoFi’s products. While the StudioDeck shares similarities with the top model UltraDeck, such as the 10″ tone arm, it offers a slimmer profile and a more affordable price.
The MoFi StudioDeck is available in black and can be purchased with or without the MoFi StudioTracker pickup. If you opt for the version with the pickup (StudioDeck+M), it comes pre-configured and ready to use. The package also includes a dust cover and a tone arm cable.
Mobile Fidelity, also known as MoFi, is an American company that has been dedicated to high-quality vinyl mastering and equipment since the 1950s. Their expertise is evident in the premium LP releases of renowned artists like the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, and Miles Davis. Mobile Fidelity’s philosophy revolves around obtaining the best possible original source, preferably the master tape, and using it to create a flawless vinyl master. This meticulous process requires dedication, resources, and a passion for preserving the integrity of the music.
In order to assess the quality of their work, the engineers in the master studio required turntables and pickups that could accurately reproduce the sound from the vinyl proofs without any coloration – leading to the establishment of MoFi Electronics. With a direct connection to the master studio, MoFi possesses a distinctive reference point and technical knowledge that aids in the development of their products. Additionally, they have collaborated with top industry experts to create components that precisely fulfill the criteria for pure and uncolored sound reproduction.
MoFi’s primary focus is on achieving optimal sound quality in every aspect, and while their products may not have the flashy appearance of some alternatives, the difference in audio quality becomes evident within moments of listening. With MoFi, you can expect unparalleled music enjoyment that is pure and exceptional value for your money.
10″ TONEARM FOR OPTIMAL SOUND
The MoFi StudioDeck features a unique 10″ aluminum tonearm that offers improved geometry for better tracking of the diamond on the record groove. By moving the pickup further away from the ball bearing, any potential noise interference is minimized. The tonearm allows for adjustments in azimuth and vertical tracking angle (VTA). If you opt for the StudioDeck with the factory-fitted StudioTracker cartridge (MoFi StudioDeck+M), all necessary settings are pre-configured for immediate use.
The tonearm is supported by high-quality ball bearings, enabling smooth movement in both vertical and horizontal directions. It is compatible with a wide range of high-end MC cartridges, perfect for those seeking superior sound quality over price considerations.
Constructed from Delrin, a durable and stable polymer often used in demanding industrial applications, the turntable on the MoFi StudioDeck offers exceptional precision and acoustic properties ideal for vinyl playback. Delrin is also used for the motor, drive belt, and damping feet, showcasing the material’s versatility. The center liner, made of hardened steel, bronze, and Teflon, ensures long-term stability and quiet rotation. Additionally, the spindle is isolated from vibrations for optimal performance.
The MDF base of the StudioDeck features a separate aluminum plate on its top, meticulously attached to enhance mass and minimize vibrations and resonances that may affect the sound quality. Although not as advanced as the top model UltraDeck, this design is still highly effective.
To ensure mechanical decoupling, the AC motor is ingeniously separated from the terminal using cutting-edge damping materials provided by Harmonic Resolution Systems (HRS), a renowned leader in audio equipment vibration dampening. The sophisticated damping feet, developed in collaboration with HRS, effectively isolate the record player from vibrations originating from both the surface and the air. Additionally, these feet can be adjusted in height, allowing for easy attainment of a perfectly level position for the record player.
For cable connection, RCA connectors with an ground screw are utilized, providing the option to upgrade the included signal cable to a superior type, such as those offered by AudioQuest, if desired.
