Xiaomi has officially kicked off the rollout of HyperOS 3, its latest Android-16-based custom operating system, marking the next stage in the company’s long-running evolution of software beyond MIUI. The new update not only promises refined performance, a more polished interface, and tighter integration with the company’s expanding ecosystem of smart devices, but also shows Xiaomi’s growing ambitions to keep pace with the likes of Samsung’s One UI and Oppo’s ColorOS.
While the first announcement suggested only a limited group of smartphones and tablets would gain early access, new reports from Xiaomitime confirm that the internal beta testing pool is significantly larger than expected. In fact, more than 80 different models under the Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO brands are now involved in testing, making this one of the most extensive software previews in Xiaomi’s history.

What is HyperOS 3?
HyperOS was introduced in 2023 as the successor to MIUI, aiming to deliver a more unified and efficient user experience across smartphones, tablets, wearables, and even IoT devices. The third major iteration, HyperOS 3, is based on Android 16 and brings:
-
Improved system stability and faster animations
-
Deeper AI integration, including voice-based features and smart scene recognition
-
Optimized battery efficiency through adaptive resource management
-
Better support for large-screen devices such as tablets and foldables
-
Enhanced cross-device connectivity for Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem
By expanding testing so widely, Xiaomi is signaling its intention to ensure broad compatibility and a smooth rollout once the stable version is ready.

Open Beta vs Internal Testing
At the moment, 22 of these devices are already included in the open beta program, which allows everyday users to download and test HyperOS 3 with regular updates and feedback channels. The remaining models are still undergoing internal testing, handled by Xiaomi’s in-house teams and select closed groups of testers.
Once those models pass stability and performance checks, Xiaomi plans to release stable HyperOS 3 updates to all eligible devices in stages, likely starting with its most recent flagships (Xiaomi 15 and 14 series) and popular mid-rangers (Redmi Note 14 and POCO F7 series).
Xiaomi’s decision to test HyperOS 3 on such a broad range of hardware is a strong indication of how the company wants to keep older models relevant for longer. This approach not only increases user satisfaction but also strengthens Xiaomi’s ecosystem by ensuring that phones, tablets, and smart devices can all run on the same software foundation.
For customers, this means:
-
Faster rollout of updates compared to earlier MIUI versions
-
Improved software longevity for mid-tier and budget devices
-
A more consistent user experience across different product lines
When to Expect the Stable Version
While Xiaomi hasn’t given a concrete timeline for a full public release, industry observers expect the first stable HyperOS 3 builds to arrive in late Q4 2025, starting in China before expanding globally. If history is any guide, European and Indian users may see stable updates within weeks of the China release.
HyperOS 3 is Xiaomi’s biggest software push yet, with over 80 devices across Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO brands already in testing. With 22 models participating in the open beta and more joining soon, the update looks set to become one of the company’s smoothest and most widely adopted OS transitions to date.
