FiiO LF-RB is a headphone cable switchable between 2.5, 3.5 and 4.4 mm jacks using magnetic fixation. The new FiiO LF-RB headphone cable with replaceable magnetic connectors is a truly special solution from FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. Only one knob is required to change connections.
If balanced signal transmission is required, depending on the device, either a 2.5 mm stereo mini-jack or the so-called 4.4 mm PENTACONN is available; But there is also the most common 3.5 mm mini-jack. And only very few solutions have all the options.
Chinese company FiiO Electronics Technology Co. Ltd. has already addressed this problem with various solutions; For some time, the company offered separate cables for its in-ear headphones with so-called interchangeable twist-lock plugs, which used the Fabrilous patent.
The FiiO LF-RB headphone cable is a proprietary design, for which, by the way, they have, of course, also applied for a patent. It also has interchangeable plugs, but – and this is what makes it special – it is even easier to connect than with previous screw systems, and this connection can be much more reliable.
The cable itself has a particularly high-quality construction. The manufacturer calls it “High Purity Monocrystalline Silver Coated Copper Wire,” i.e., highly pure copper conductors coated with silver. The cable has a four-core geometry, each with 120 signal cores and 100 cores in the insulation layer, plus an additional shield and TPU jacket. The four cores are in turn loosely intertwined, which also contributes to a high degree of protection against external influences and, from a very practical point of view, a high degree of flexibility of the cable.
Since the new FiiO LF-RB headphone cable with magnetic interchangeable plugs is designed for in-ear headphones, it is naturally equipped with so-called MMCX connectors at the other end, which have also almost become established as an industry standard in recent years. They are gold plated and designed to withstand heavy loads over long periods of time. Red and blue markings indicate which channel is left and which is right.
