The American company VPI Industries introduced the VPI Goldy moving coil (MC) cartridge , which was another result of a partnership with Audio Technica. The Goldy is based on the Audio Technica AT-OC9 model and uses a line contact stylus with a boron cantilever. The VPI Goldy cartridge is named after the second daughter of VPI Industries President Mat Weisfeld, Goldie.
Mat Weisfeld commented: “The goal is to create a more economical option that still delivers excellent value for money while being reasonably easy to set up. When creating Goldy , as with Shyla , we focused on reproducing the midrange while maintaining dynamic lows and high detail at high frequencies .
The VPI Goldy moving coil cartridge will be available for a suggested retail price of $1,300 .
