Krix Unveils New MX Cinema Speakers

Krix unveiled the latest evolution of its modular cinema speakers for behind-the-screen mounting, announcing the MX-30i, MX-40i , and the significantly upgraded MX-20 Mk2 . The Adelaide-based manufacturer claims the new versions of its Real Cinema at Home series speakers for medium and large cinemas deliver deeper bass and greater dynamic range.

The MX-20 Mk2 model received the most extensive update . Krix replaced the Mk1’s 10-inch LF driver with a new 12-inch unit, equipped with a larger 2.5-inch voice coil for higher output and lower distortion. The treated fabric dome tweeter and waveguide have been replaced by Krix’s patented constant-directivity horn and compression driver, providing better control of the polar pattern, higher sensitivity, and noticeably more powerful dynamics. Recommended amplifier power has been increased from 500 to 700 watts RMS for the left, center, and right channels, reflecting the increased headroom.

Like its larger siblings, the Krix MX-20 Mk2 also features a reversible subwoofer module with dual terminal binding posts, giving installers more flexibility when considering screen height restrictions and stage designs.

The Krix MX-30i and MX-40i speakers retain the familiar left, center, and right channel modules, but feature a new subwoofer designed for the subwoofer range—extending its performance beyond the audible range. Krix developed an 18-inch low-frequency driver with significantly increased excursion and power handling, designed to deliver the physical impact of cinematic effects. The subwoofer module’s enclosure features a reversible design with two terminals, allowing the module to be mounted facing upward or downward, while maintaining a uniform system height and shallow depth. Owners of existing MX-30 and MX-40 speakers will be able to upgrade to the new subwoofers thanks to the unchanged enclosure profile.

Krix emphasizes that all three speaker systems continue the company’s long-standing commitment to Australian engineering and local manufacturing. The MX-30i, MX-40i, and MX-20 Mk2 are designed to reproduce sound through an acoustically transparent screen, echoing the design and presentation of commercial cinemas but on a residential scale.

Sales of the new products in Australia will begin in mid-December, with international deliveries planned for March 2026.
