Xiaomi’s next flagship generation is already starting to take shape. According to early leaks and industry rumors, the company could unveil the Xiaomi 18 series as early as September 2026. The expected lineup includes the Xiaomi 18, Xiaomi 18 Pro, and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, replacing the current Xiaomi 17 models introduced last year.
Although the official launch is still months away, the first render of the standard Xiaomi 18 has surfaced online, giving a preliminary look at the design direction. At first glance, the device appears to adopt a cleaner, more minimalist aesthetic, with some observers noting similarities to the latest iPhone models—both in naming conventions and visual styling.

A familiar yet refined camera design
The leaked render shows a square rear camera module with softly rounded corners. Inside the module, three lenses are arranged in a triangular layout, accompanied by an LED flash and the Leica branding that has become a hallmark of Xiaomi’s premium camera partnerships. The overall look is understated and modern, focusing on symmetry and simplicity rather than dramatic visual elements.
Slightly larger display
According to well-known industry insider Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 18 may feature a slightly larger display than its predecessor. The screen size could increase from 6.3 inches to 6.4 inches, giving the device more room for internal components. This change could allow Xiaomi to integrate either more powerful hardware, improved cooling, or a higher-capacity battery.
Next-generation Snapdragon power
Performance is expected to come from Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset. While details about the processor are still limited, it is likely to deliver improvements in CPU and GPU performance, AI capabilities, and energy efficiency—continuing the steady annual progress seen in flagship mobile platforms.
Ambitious camera hardware
Camera specifications are also rumored to take a significant step forward. Reports suggest that the Xiaomi 18 series could feature:
-
A 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera
-
A 50-megapixel main sensor
-
A 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera
If accurate, this configuration would position the Xiaomi 18 lineup among the most advanced camera phones on the market, particularly in terms of zoom capabilities and overall imaging flexibility.
Android 17 out of the box
The new devices are expected to ship with Android 17 preinstalled, likely paired with Xiaomi’s latest HyperOS interface. This would bring the newest privacy, performance, and system-level improvements straight out of the box.
Still early days
At this stage, all details remain unofficial, and Xiaomi has yet to confirm any specifications or design elements. However, if the current rumors prove accurate, the Xiaomi 18 series could represent a meaningful step forward in display technology, camera hardware, and overall performance when it arrives later this year.
