Philips OLED810 Review: The Mid-Range OLED That Gets It Right

The Philips OLED800 series has long been the brand’s answer to LG’s popular C-series, combining top-tier OLED picture quality with a more affordable price tag. For 2025, Philips introduces the OLED810, the successor to the OLED807, OLED808, and OLED809. While the differences from last year’s model aren’t dramatic, the OLED810 shows clear refinement — making it one of the most balanced mid-range OLED TVs you can buy.

We took a closer look at the 55-inch Philips OLED810 4K HDR TV, and here’s how it stacks up.

Design

The Philips 55OLED810 carries over much of the sleek design we’ve come to expect from the series. It has a razor-thin OLED panel, a solid metal frame, and a slim black casing that houses the electronics, Ambilight LEDs, and ports.

The biggest design change this year is the stand. Like last year’s OLED809, it sits on a central swivel base — a useful and often overlooked feature. The base is now slimmer, longer, and rounded on both sides, giving the TV a more refined look.

As always, the three-sided Ambilight system is the star of Philips’ design language. It projects colored light that matches the content onto the wall behind the TV, creating a more immersive experience. Over the years, Ambilight has gained features such as sunrise/sleep modes, adaptive brightness via sensors, and customizable light profiles.

Remote Control

The OLED810 ships with the same USB-C rechargeable remote as the OLED950. It feels premium, though its sharp edges make it less comfortable than some competing remotes. The backlit buttons are well laid out, but the volume and channel rockers could have been designed with a wider tilt surface.

Picture Quality

The OLED810 uses an OLED EX panel. While not as advanced as the META3 panel in the OLED950, it still delivers excellent results.

  • HDR performance: Up to 1,120 nits brightness in a 10% window, peaking at 1,360 nits in a 2% window.

  • Full-screen white: Around 180 nits, which is decent but not groundbreaking.

  • Calibration: Out-of-the-box accuracy is superb, with neutral grayscale, natural skin tones, and excellent shadow detail.

  • Blacks: Improved versus previous generations — minimal crushing and excellent visibility in dark scenes.

Philips’ tone mapping works well, and adaptive HDR modes boost brightness without clipping highlights. Anti-reflection properties are solid, though not the best in class.

Processing & AI Enhancements

The latest P5 AI Engine powers the OLED810, bringing features like the new AI Adaptive Gamut Optimizer, which enhances SDR content with wider color reproduction while preserving skin tones.

Upscaling and noise reduction are impressive, with effective deinterlacing and sharp scaling from lower resolutions. Color banding is handled well, and motion smoothing can be tuned depending on preference. Sports benefit from stronger interpolation, while movies can be left with minimal processing for a more cinematic feel.

Philips OLED810 is a great gaming TV

Gaming Performance

Gamers will appreciate that the OLED810 supports 4K at 144Hz, ALLM, and VRR (including AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync).

  • Input lag: ~5.5ms (2K@120Hz) and ~14ms (4K@60Hz)

  • Response time: 0.1ms, eliminating afterglow in fast-paced games

  • Game profiles: Up to 10 custom presets per genre, plus AI-assisted recognition

Overall, this is one of the most gamer-friendly mid-range OLEDs available in 2025.

Smart TV Experience

The OLED810 runs Google TV (based on Android 14) on a Mediatek Pentonic chipset with:

  • 2GHz quad-core Cortex-A73 CPU

  • Mali G57 GPU

  • 3GB RAM

  • 17GB usable storage for apps

Performance is smooth, apps load quickly, and the interface feels polished. Google Cast and Apple AirPlay 2 are supported, along with a huge library of apps and streaming services.

Audio

The built-in 2.1-channel 70W audio system (with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X) performs better than most TVs in this class. Music playback has punchy bass and clarity, and dialogue in movies is crisp. However, surround and height effects are limited, so an external soundbar or speaker system will greatly improve immersion.

Thanks to DTS Play-Fi, the OLED810 can also be integrated as a center speaker in a larger home theater setup.

Philips OLED810 connectivity options

Connectivity

  • HDMI: 2x HDMI 2.0 + 2x HDMI 2.1 (one with eARC)

  • USB: 1x USB 3.0 + 1x USB 2.0

  • Other: Optical out, headphone jack, Ethernet, CI slot, antenna inputs

  • Wireless: Bluetooth 5.2 + Wi-Fi 6

The only real limitation is having just two HDMI 2.1 ports, which could be restrictive for gamers with multiple next-gen consoles.

Philips OLED810 Pricing (August 2025)

  • 42-inch OLED810: $2,090

  • 48-inch OLED810: $2,310

  • 55-inch OLED810: $2,740

  • 65-inch OLED810: $3,290

  • 77-inch OLED810: $3,840

Verdict

The Philips OLED810 is an excellent all-around OLED TV. It may not reach the sheer peak performance of the flagship OLED950 or LG G5, but for the price, it delivers outstanding image accuracy, gaming features, and Philips’ unique Ambilight experience.

Pros

  • Excellent picture quality & HDR brightness
  • Superb calibration out-of-the-box
  • Strong gaming support (4K@144Hz, VRR, low input lag)
  • Ambilight adds real atmosphere
  • Swivel stand design

Cons

  • Only 2 HDMI 2.1 ports
  • Sound system still benefits from a soundbar
  • Peak brightness lags behind higher-end OLEDs

Bottom line: If you’re looking for a mid-range OLED that balances price, performance, and immersion, the Philips OLED810 is one of the best choices in 2025.
