DJI Goggles N3: Budget glasses for FPV drones

DJI Goggles N3

The newly released DJI Goggles N3 present an affordable solution for operating the compact FPV drones, DJI Neo and DJI Avata 2. These drones are equipped with impressive cameras suitable for high-quality filming, making them ideal for travel. The goggles are compatible with the DJI RC Motion 3 controller, can be comfortably worn over standard prescription eyewear, and are priced at a budget-friendly $229.

DJI promises convenient control and full immersion in the exciting process of flight. Including when performing rotations of the copter, aerial loops or other dynamic movements.

The DJI Goggles N3 are designed to be worn comfortably over regular prescription glasses, featuring a unified headband and battery system. According to the manufacturer, these goggles are optimized for extended use during flight, minimizing strain on both the neck and the eyes.

The resolution is 1080p, and the viewing angle is 54 degrees. There is an anti-fog system that can be activated by pressing a button – the internal fan will turn on.

DJI’s exclusive O4 digital transmission system provides remarkably low latency, ensuring that the video feed synchronizes with the drone’s movements in real time, even at distances reaching up to 8 miles (13 km), as stated by DJI.

The DJI Goggles N3 seamlessly alternate between 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz frequencies to ensure a stable signal. Additionally, an augmented reality cursor displays your settings in your line of sight while flying, enabling you to make modifications without diverting your attention from the action.

By sharing a live data stream through the DJI Fly app, team members can monitor the flight in real time on their smartphones. This capability facilitates collaboration among the entire team during flights, allowing for immediate feedback and adjustments to the footage as required.

Among the four available options from DJI—Goggles N3, Goggles 3, Integra, and Goggles 2—the newly introduced N3 distinguishes itself by providing a 1080p resolution with a 54-degree field of view LCD display, all at a more affordable price point. These goggles are also designed to accommodate users who require prescription lenses for either farsightedness or nearsightedness.

The advertised battery life for the N3 is up to 2.7 hours, which is slightly shorter than the three-hour maximum of the Goggles 3, yet longer than the two-hour duration claimed by the Integra. The DJI Goggles N3 are set to be available for purchase in late November at a price of $229.

In early September, DJI unveiled the compact and lightweight DJI Neo FPV drone, which is compatible with specialized glasses and remote controllers, including the new DJI Goggles N3.

The propellers are equipped with specialized protection, and the drone offers the ability to take off from the palm of your hand while capturing video at 4K resolution and 30 frames per second. The DJI Neo features a 1/2 inch sensor capable of taking 12-megapixel photos and includes advanced stabilization technologies: RockSteady and Horizon Balancing. Priced at $199, this drone weighs a mere 135 grams. The manufacturer markets it as an entry-level option for FPV flying, emphasizing its lightweight and portable design, while still being capable of performing all the aerobatic maneuvers typical of other FPV drones.
