Apple has officially rolled out iOS 26, bringing one of the most striking visual updates to the iPhone in years. The update introduces a fresh design language called Liquid Glass, along with powerful AI-driven tools, new communication features, and a dedicated Games app for mobile gaming.
A New Look: Liquid Glass and an Enhanced Lock Screen
The headline feature of iOS 26 is its Liquid Glass interface, which gives buttons, sliders, tabs, and menus a sleek, translucent appearance. This layered design makes navigation feel lighter and more immersive across the entire system.

The lock screen also gets a major overhaul. Users can now place a giant customizable clock front and center, monitor battery levels, and enjoy animated Apple Music album art while listening to tracks. Apple has promised that third-party apps will soon be able to integrate with these animated visuals.

AI at the Core: Live Translation and Smarter Calls
Apple continues to push artificial intelligence deeper into iOS. The new Live Translation feature enables real-time translation of speech and text. Neural network algorithms allow:
-
Instant message translations
-
Live subtitles during FaceTime calls
-
Real-time speech translation during phone calls, including through AirPods
Another welcome addition is the smart call handling feature. Unknown numbers can now be automatically answered with AI assistance, while incoming text messages from non-contacts are displayed in a cleaner, more manageable way.

Messaging Upgrades and New Games Hub
Messages also receive several long-requested updates. Users can now see typing indicators, create polls in group chats, and even set custom chat backgrounds for different conversations.
For gamers, Apple has unveiled a new Games app. Acting as a central hub, it organizes all installed games, recommendations, and Game Center features into one place, much like how Apple Music manages songs.

iPadOS 26: Multitasking Finally Gets Better
Alongside iOS 26, Apple is shipping iPadOS 26, which adopts the same Liquid Glass design language. More importantly, multitasking has finally taken a leap forward with true multi-window support. Users can resize windows freely and arrange apps anywhere on the screen—making the iPad feel closer to a laptop replacement.
Apple has also added long-requested apps like Files and Preview, giving iPad users more desktop-like functionality out of the box.
