TEAC PD-507T: Reference-Grade CD Transport With Pro Mechanism and Precision Clocking

Teac PD-507T

Teac has announced the PD-507T, a CD transport designed to accurately play and read CDs. The PD-507T joins the Reference 500 series and will soon be available in silver or black.

In an era where streaming dominates, TEAC sees continued demand among listeners who want to optimally play their existing CD collection. The PD-507T is specifically aimed at this demographic. TEAC has traditionally specialized in building audio equipment, i.e., reel-to-reel recorders, cassette decks, and CD transports. The Japanese manufacturer is now one of the few manufacturers of CD transports worldwide. These transports are used in TEAC's own equipment but also supplied to other manufacturers who don't build their own.

At the heart of the new PD-507T is TEAC's proprietary CD-5020A mechanism, a proven track record in professional environments such as broadcasting. By focusing purely on the digital output signal and offloading the digital to digital conversion to an external converter, the PD-507T, according to the designers, can deliver a cleaner and more refined signal.

TEAC has housed the mechanism in a semi-floating design with a dedicated drive circuit, which, according to the designers, supports reference-quality reproduction. The new model is also presented as a natural partner for TEAC's recently launched UD-507 digital-to-analog converter, preamplifier, and headphone amplifier .

Technical improvements include the disabling of unused digital outputs to reduce potential noise, while each clock and output stage has its own independent power supply. The PD-507T is also compatible with TEAC’s CG-10M-X master clock generator via a 10 MHz BNC input, aimed at users who demand even greater precision. An amber full-dot OLED display, in keeping with the other members of the Reference 500 series, enhances visibility and system integration. Connectivity is kept simple, with coaxial and optical digital outputs.

A toroidal transformer forms the basis of the power supply and is assisted by independent rectifier circuits for the motor, pickup, and digital stages. Meanwhile, TEAC's stress-free isolation feet and semi-floating top panel help control vibration and maintain tonal balance. A low-phase-noise crystal oscillator maintains clock accuracy, and the transport supports playback of pressed CDs, CD-Rs, and CD-RWs.

Operation options include normal, repeat, shuffle, random play, and programmed play modes, all accessible via the included RC-1338 remote control.

The device measures 290 x 84.5 x 248.8 millimeters and weighs four kilograms. It consumes only four watts of power in use and just 0.3 watts in standby mode.

Teac PD-507T: price and delivery information

The TEAC PD-507T CD Transport is available in black or silver, will be available from October 2025 and has a suggested retail price of just under €1,300.
