Redmi K50 Extreme Edition: A Xiaomi 12 in disguise?

The Redmi K50 Extreme Edition arrives, the best Redmi mobile so far?

Xiaomi has launched what is easily its most advanced device from the Redmi brand. We are talking about nothing more or less than the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition , which stands as the head of the Redmi K50 series  if we judge it solely by its specifications, which are typical of the high range.

Redmi K50 Extreme Edition, a Xiaomi 12 in disguise

The Redmi K50 Extreme Edition borrows more from the Xiaomi 12 series than its own, so it could well be considered a recycled model of said series. Be that as it may, it’s time to go into details, and the first thing we can say is that it boasts a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels , a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision and HDR10+ technologies.

In terms of hardware, the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition surprises us with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip , the best that Qualcomm has to offer today. Accompanying the set we will find up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage type UFS 3.1.

If we take Lei Jun, CEO and founder of Xiaomi, at his word, then the device can run demanding titles like Genshin Impact at 60FPS and maintain that performance for hours.

In terms of battery we are talking about a 5,000mAh capacity backed by 120W fast charging ; Needless to say, it is one of the best on the market.

The photographic field is broken down as follows:

  • 108MP Samsung HM6 sensor with OIS
  • 8MP wide angle (f/2.2)
  • 2MP macro camera
  • LED Flash

Finally, the front camera uses a Sony IMX596 sensor to achieve high-fidelity selfies.

Availability and price

Pending an international launch, all we can say is that the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition is on sale in China for the following prices and memory configurations:

  • 8/128 GB: CNY2,999 – €436
  • 8/256GB: CNY3,299 – €480
  • 12/256GB: CNY3,599 – €523
  • 12/512GB: CNY3,999 – €581

It is worth mentioning the existence of a formula 1-themed version made in collaboration with Mercedes called the Redmi K50 Supreme Edition.
