LG 2024 OLED TVs are FreeSync certified at up to 144Hz

LG’s 2024 OLED TVs, the C4 and G4 series, will support VRR technology up to 144 Hz instead of 120 Hz. This follows from the AMD FreeSync certification database. LG is expected to unveil its 2024 TV lineup at CES 2024 in January. There have been rumors that the G4 series TVs will be equipped with second-generation MLA (Micro Lens Array) OLED panels with even higher brightness, but there is no confirmation of this information yet.

2024 48-inch, 55-inch and 77-inch TV models were certified for FreeSync Premium in September and October. They are currently listed in the AMD database with VRR ranges of 40-120Hz for the B4, 48-120Hz for the QNED85 (LCD), and 40-144Hz for the C4 and G4 series.

As a reminder, LG’s existing OLED TVs support VRR technology up to 120Hz, as this is the panel’s maximum refresh rate. The move to 144Hz will appeal to PC gamers (game consoles don’t support 144Hz) and will mirror what Samsung and TCL offer in their current high-end models.

New Alpha 10 video and audio processor

In addition, according to Korean media reports, next year LG Electronics will introduce a successor to the Alpha 9 video and audio processor. It is expected to be called Alpha 10 and will be equipped with a powerful NPU (neural processing unit).
