It has been reported that at CES 2024 , which will be held in January in Las Vegas, Hisense will present its latest and most advanced miniLED TV with 40,000 backlight zones and a peak brightness of 10,000 nits. This is the next generation of Hisense ULED X technology , which combines miniLED backlight with zone dimming and an LCD panel.
According to Hisense, we are talking about a panel equipped with more than 40 thousand backlight zones, but it has not yet been specified whether each of them can be controlled individually. The company also claims that the panel’s peak brightness can reach 10,000 nits, which is significantly higher than current OLED TVs, which peak brightness of 1,500 – 2,000 nits, and current miniLED LCD TVs, which can reach 2,000 – 4,000 nits. .
This record-breaking brightness is achieved through the use of mini-LEDs with high voltage 24 V. At the same time, coverage of 95% of the BT.2020 color space is achieved. An important point is that the actual peak brightness depends on the degree of image heterogeneity due to the limitations of zone dimming. LCD TVs that are advertised as having a brightness of 2,000 nits, for example, typically don’t reach that level when playing actual content.
Recall that at CES 2023, Hisense demonstrated a 110-inch ULED X TV with 8K resolution, more than 5,000 backlight zones and a peak brightness of 2,500 nits. Apparently, the company has spent this year perfecting its concept.
The 2024 version of the 110-inch LCD TV will be called Hisense 110UX and will officially debut at CES 2024 in Las Vegas in January this year.
