Now they may also have to be licked – in any case, the invention of the professor at the Japanese Meiji University, Khomei Miyashita, is intended for this. The inventor decided that his proposed technology for transmitting taste from the TV screen, as an option, would diversify life experiences in the era of pandemic self-isolation. On the other hand, the prospect of licking the screen is not very hygienic.
The device itself, called Taste the TV (TTTV), is a clip of 10 containers of liquid flavors that are sprayed in the correct proportions onto a transparent film. She stretches across the TV screen, giving it a predetermined taste.
The professor attracted about 30 of his students to create TTTV – together they created a working prototype in a year. He had already been licked in front of the press. Miyashita said that the new product will show itself well, for example, in distance learning for culinary specialists – and this is just one of the future prospects. In the case of commercial production, Taste the TV, according to the developer, will cost about $900 excluding consumables.
