Huawei opens a center for cybersecurity and privacy protection

Over the years, the constant risks of cyber attacks have grown notably at the same time that the digitization of the industry and new technologies, such as 5G and AI, have generated a cyberspace more complex than ever. That is why Huawei has decided to take action on the matter with the opening of a new center aimed at protecting privacy.

During the past week the giant Asian company has inaugurated its largest Global Center for Cybersecurity, Transparency and Privacy Protection . It is located in the city of Dongguan, China, and has been developed with the assistance of important organizations such as the GSMA, SUSE, the British Standards Institution and regulators from the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia.

Considering that users’ digital lives have grown largely due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese brand seeks to provide a new platform where industry stakeholders can work together to share their experience in the field of cyber regulation and create new technical solutions.

Thus, the new center, has spaces to create solutions and share experiences, facilitate communication and joint innovation, and support security tests and verifications. It will be open to all types of regulators, independent third-party testing organizations and standardization organizations , as well as Huawei customers, partners and suppliers.

Within the telecommunications segment , the GSMA bodies and the 3GPP have also worked with industry stakeholders to promote NESAS security assurance specifications and independent certifications . It is mentioned that the bases obtained have been very well received by a large part of the sector and will play an important role in the development and verification of secure networks in the future.

Finally, during the event Huawei also released its “Product Cyber ​​Security Baseline”, which is the set of external regulations, technical standards and regulatory requirements that have been compiled over the last decade. According to the manufacturer, throughout its history it has managed to install 1,500 networks that connect more than 3 billion people in 170 countries and regions without ever suffering a relevant security incident.
