Chrome OS now the fastest growing operating system in the world

The operating system Chrome OS is by far the fastest growing in the world due to the ability to use mobile applications on a computer, it said the press service of Google in a public blog.

Google announced that Chrome OS has grown 92% in popularity in May 2021 compared to 2020. Google’s cloud operating system audience is growing five times faster than the PC market as a whole. This makes Chrome OS the fastest growing operating system in the world.

Google also listed innovations that enable more efficient use of Android apps on Chrome OS. These include the introduction of Android 11 app support, improved windowing, low latency stylus support, and the introduction of Nearby Share in Chrome 96 and later.

Recall that Chrome OS is based on Gentoo GNU / Linux and is focused on working in a cloud environment on low-performance devices – for example, the Chromebooks of the same name, which are extremely popular in educational institutions in the USA and Europe.
