Google intends to add artificial intelligence to all its services. And it looks like Chrome might be next in line. Some eagle-eyed users have spotted evidence that the company is working on a new Settings section that will be responsible for Chrome’s AI-powered automatic tab organizing tool. A new browser settings panel is currently under development and can be accessed through the Experimental Features page.

According to Chrome browser expert @Leopeva64, this new settings section is called Advanced, but its URL (chrome://settings/ai) clearly indicates that it is related to AI. Judging by the video, the section in its current form is not ready yet, the only available option is “Show additional settings” – which opens one single function called Autofill Helper. Enabling it requires a browser restart, and it’s not entirely clear what this autofill feature does. It was originally called Compose, which suggests a more advanced tool than just an autocomplete assistant.
@Leopeva64 claims that the previously spotted tab organization feature will also be part of this settings panel. It was previously under development as part of the Search tab interface. After the user opens a certain number of tabs, the “Arrange Tabs” button should appear in the section, which will allow them to be sorted automatically. We can assume that it runs on some kind of machine learning algorithm.
