The third generation of German Physiks Gaudi acoustic systems will appear in 2024

Gaudi omnipolar loudspeaker systems have become the hallmark of the German brand German Physiks since the launch of the first generation in 1996. The speakers were designed to recreate the feeling of a full-scale orchestra, aided by wide frequency response and the ability to produce high sound pressure with a wide dynamic range – all of which are typical for live performances.

With its ability to reproduce sounds as low as 15 Hz and reach SPLs of 120 dB, the Gaudi MK I so impressed reviewers at Japan’s leading audio magazine Stereo Sound that they awarded it the prestigious “Components of the Year” award in 1998.

Currently, the third generation of the legendary acoustics is in work, which will be called Gaudi MK III. Due to delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the presentation of the long-awaited new product will take place only in 2024.

The German Physiks Gaudi MK III omnipolar loudspeaker systems will be equipped with the same moving array of four DDD drivers as the Gaudi MK II and Emperor MK II. DDD speakers cover a range from 180 Hz to 24 kHz. Since this is almost the full audio range, moving the DDD driver array will essentially be the same as moving the entire speaker. The listener can adjust the position of each DDD driver array from their listening position using the remote control, making it much easier to fine-tune the speaker than a typical speaker that weighs 800kg. The extremely wide frequency range of the DDD driver eliminates the need for cross-linking in the midrange, a problem that plagues most loudspeaker systems.

The Gaudi MK III will only be available as active loudspeaker systems with a German Physiks Emperor DSP-X digital crossover that will drive the DDD driver array, low-frequency sections and subwoofer. The level of each channel will vary by ±6 dB to allow for customization of the sound depending on the acoustic characteristics of the listening room.

Such an active three-way design would require three power amplifiers for each speaker. You can use the power amplifiers of your choice, but the manufacturer recommends using amplifiers from the German Physiks Emperor series. Experience shows that they are ideally suited to take full advantage of the exceptional transparency and dynamic range of the Gaudi Mk III.

Unfortunately, there are no photos of  German Physiks Gaudi  MK  III speaker systems , as well as information about the launch date and cost of the new product  . Let us remember that the previous generation Gaudi MK II was priced at $250.000.
