Magico M7: New awesome and powerful floorstanding speaker

Magico M7

In June 2020, the Californian company Magico introduced its flagship M9 speaker systems. Everything that was developed in the process of creating these extraordinary speakers is now embodied in Magico 7 , standing at the second stage of the company’s lineup. The M7 was conceived by Magico founder and CEO Alon Wolf as a more affordable version of the semi-active M9. Magico’s engineering team was tasked with creating a completely passive Magico M7.

The Magico 7 is a four-way, six-speaker floorstanding speaker system with a carbon fiber and aluminum body and a cutting-edge crossover. The new product is equipped with an improved tweeter and midrange speaker, powerful midbass speakers and a pair of 12-inch bass drivers. The M7 uses a tweeter designed for the M9. This high-frequency driver uses a 28mm beryllium diaphragm with optimized geometry. The diaphragm is then coated with diamond using a chemical vapor deposition process to bring the beryllium substrate even closer to the theoretical ideal.

The mid-range driver in the M7 is equipped with a 5-inch diameter cone made of proprietary eighth-generation Nano-Tec material. The material consists of an aluminum honeycomb core surrounded by outer and inner layers of carbon fiber impregnated with graphene. The improved cone is supported by a new basket design, an innovative foam surround, and a new neodymium magnet system.

The 9-inch Magico M7 mid-bass drivers use a new basket design along with an eighth-generation Magico Nano-Tec cone. These speakers feature a 127mm voice coil and a magnetic system with dual large neodymium magnets. The ventilated pure titanium voice coil frame ensures stable cone movement over a range of +/-13mm. This highly sensitive driver is capable of delivering a sound pressure of 120 dB at a distance of 1 m across the entire operating frequency range. The new 12-inch M7 bass driver also uses a new basket design and a Magico Nano-Tec Gen 8 cone. This driver also has a 127mm voice coil.

The Magico M7 speaker enclosure is a carbon fiber monocoque with a 6061-T6 aluminum front panel, designed to provide minimal internal resonance and near-silent operation. The significance of this model for the company is emphasized by a chrome plate with Alon Wolf’s signature on the back wall of each speaker housing.

Magico 7 speaker systems will go on sale in early 2024. In the US, the recommended retail price of the new product is $375,000 for a pair of speakers. In the UK the guide price is £398,000 .
