JBL Bar 300 MK2 & Bar 500 MK2: Upgraded Soundbars with Dolby Atmos and Smarter Features

JBL has refreshed its popular soundbar lineup with the release of the Bar 300 MK2 and Bar 500 MK2, both of which bring meaningful upgrades in sound technology, connectivity, and user convenience. Designed for modern home entertainment setups, these new models combine Dolby Atmos support, JBL’s proprietary MultiBeam 3.0 technology, and the improved PureVoice 2.0 system, delivering immersive soundscapes and crystal-clear dialogue for movies, TV shows, and music streaming.

Sound Performance and Features

The JBL Bar 300 MK2 is a compact all-in-one soundbar with a built-in subwoofer, making it an ideal solution for smaller spaces or minimalist setups. In contrast, the more powerful JBL Bar 500 MK2 includes an external wireless subwoofer with a 26 cm driver, designed to produce deep, room-filling bass for a more cinematic experience.

Both models benefit from Dolby Atmos, which expands the sound vertically for a more three-dimensional listening experience, and JBL MultiBeam 3.0, a sound calibration system that enhances surround effects without needing multiple speakers. For dialogue-heavy content, PureVoice 2.0 intelligently enhances vocal clarity, ensuring conversations stand out even during action-packed scenes.

Connectivity and Smart Integration

JBL has equipped the MK2 series with a wide range of connectivity options. Both soundbars connect to TVs through HDMI eARC for high-bandwidth audio, with additional optical input and USB ports for flexibility. For wireless streaming, they support both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

The soundbars integrate seamlessly with popular platforms like AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Tidal Connect, and Spotify Connect, giving users multiple ways to stream music directly from their devices. They also support voice assistants, including Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple Siri, making them compatible with most smart home ecosystems.

Adaptive Sound with JBL One App

A standout feature of these new soundbars is compatibility with the JBL One app, which lets users fine-tune audio settings and automatically calibrate sound based on room acoustics. This ensures optimal performance, whether you’re watching movies in a large living room or listening to music in a smaller space.

Pricing and Availability

The JBL Bar 300 MK2 is priced at around €390, making it a strong contender for those who want Dolby Atmos in a compact form without the clutter of external subwoofers. Meanwhile, the JBL Bar 500 MK2, with its dedicated wireless subwoofer and stronger bass output, comes in at €649, offering a more premium home theater experience.

With the addition of Dolby Atmos, enhanced dialogue clarity, and expanded smart connectivity, JBL’s updated MK2 soundbars represent a solid upgrade over previous generations. The Bar 300 MK2 is well-suited for casual users or smaller living spaces, while the Bar 500 MK2 caters to those who want a fuller, more cinematic sound with booming bass.

Both models strike a balance between modern design, advanced technology, and ease of use, making them excellent choices for anyone looking to elevate their TV and streaming audio setup in 2025.
