Furniture maker IKEA and audio industry leader Sonos have teamed up to create a wall-mounted speaker in the Symfonisk series of wireless audio systems . According to the creators, its task is to erase the line between interior items and musical equipment.
There are no specific technical characteristics of the new speaker yet. Perhaps the companies will announce them closer to the market launch date, which is scheduled for July 15th . Symfonisk is known to be equipped with a tweeter, woofer and fiber optic cable.
The novelty supports Apple’s Apple AirPlay 2 technology and Sonos Radio . Several wall-mounted speakers located in different rooms or on different walls in the same room can be combined into a single audio system. To control such a system, a proprietary application for mobile gadgets is used.
The Symfonisk audio system can be wall-mounted or placed on a horizontal surface – for this the speakers have rubber “feet”.
The speakers will be available in black and white . It will be possible to become the owner of the Symfonisk speaker for 199 US dollars .
