Elipson Heritage XLS 7: Compact retro speakers from France

Following the success of the XLS 15 and XLS 11 loudspeakers, French company Elipson continues to expand its Elipson Heritage series with the Elipson Heritage XLS 7, a compact bookshelf model . The speakers are made in the same vintage design as the rest of the series, but are significantly more compact, which makes it easy to fit them even into small rooms.

The Elipson Heritage XLS 7 takes you back to the golden era of Hi-Fi, the 60s/70s of the last century, associated with such legendary models as the Celestion Ditton 551, JBL 4312 and Pioneer HPM-100. Elipson Heritage design details such as walnut veneer cabinet and white mid/bass cone have been incorporated into the entry-level XLS 7, which measures 22.5 cm wide, 38 cm high and 25 cm deep. The bass-reflex port on the front of the speaker further simplifies the installation of acoustics in small rooms.

Unlike the bigger models of the Elipson Heritage line, which use a three-lane configuration, the Elipson Heritage XLS 7 is implemented in a two-lane architecture. The XLS 15’s large 30cm woofer and the XLS 11’s 21cm woofer give way to a 16.5cm mid/bass driver here. The composition of the cellulose fiber from which the diffuser is made has remained unchanged. A light and rigid cone capable of moving air efficiently and quickly, coupled with a powerful magnet system, allows the Elipson Heritage XLS 7 speakers to reproduce bass from 49 Hz.

The Elipson Heritage XLS 7 inherited the 22 mm silk dome tweeter from the older models, which is also used in the French manufacturer’s Prestige Facet series. The driver provides excellent transient response as well as perfect treble control down to 25 kHz. Like many vintage acoustic models, the Elipson Heritage XLS 7 monitors have the ability to adjust the return in the high-frequency spectrum – there is a potentiometer on the front of the speaker that allows you to adjust the frequency response at HF within +/- 2 dB.

The new Elipson Heritage XLS 7 bookshelf speakers are now available for pre-order in Europe for a suggested retail price of €799 /pair. Deliveries are scheduled for October 2023.
