Barco G50: A series of laser smart energy efficient projectors

Barco has introduced the new G50 series of laser smart installation projectors . The top model G50-W8 delivers up to 8,900 ISO lumens and delivers an energy efficiency of 18 lm/W. Compact for Barco, the G50 series has been designed for business applications and is based on single-chip DLP technology, offering native WUXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution and a 10W built-in audio system.

The Barco G50 series includes three models: G50-W6 , G50-W7 and G50-W8 , which weigh between 11 and 13 kg and have the same dimensions – 486 x 181 x 376 mm. The laser phosphor light source provides a light output of 6,400, 7,400 and 8,900 ISO lumens, respectively, and has a lifespan of up to 20,000 hours. The switching arsenal includes two HDMI 2.0 ports, DisplayPort 1.2, HDBaseT and 3D SYNC In.

New items are equipped with interchangeable optics. For projectors, six lenses are offered with parameters from 5.5:1 to 0.37:1. Barco notes that lenses compatible with the G60 and G62 series projectors will also work with the new G50 series models. To control the projectors, you can use the Pulse application for mobile gadgets running under Android and iOS (for this, the projector must be integrated into a computer network).

Typical applications for the G50 series projectors, according to Barco, include conference rooms, classrooms and museums. Projectors are offered in black or white finishes.
