Sony camera announcements in 2023 revealed

Sony camera announcements in 2023 revealed

Sony is preparing to introduce four new high-tech cameras during 2023. Some of the information about these devices has previously been disclosed, and some details about the likely periods of announcements have become known only now.

So, four new cameras will be announced:

  • Sony’s new APS-C flagship camera A6700 – July 12
  • New compact full-frame camera Sony A7cII – announcement from September to November
  • New camera with ultra-high resolution sensor. The model has not yet been revealed, but the announcement is expected from September to November
  • Reportage camera of the new generation Sony A9III – announcement at the end of the year (September-January).
  • The new cinema camera of the FX line. The specific model is still unknown. Presumably: Sony FX10

One of the main features of the new Sony A6700 is a 26-megapixel sensor with support for matrix stabilization. This sensor is similar to the one used in the Sony FX30 professional movie camera.

The stabilization system is able to compensate for movement up to 7 stops of exposure. In addition, the camera uses artificial intelligence, similar to that used in the Sony ZV-E1 model. This provides more efficient image processing and algorithmic scene recognition.

The Sony A6700 will also feature an improved Quad-VGA OLED Tru-Finder with 3.69 million dots. The Sony A6700 will allow you to shoot video in 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second. This will apply an additional crop factor of 1.19x.

In addition, the novelty will support S-Cinetone technology, which includes a new gamma and color scheme, as well as S-Log2 and S-Log3 curves with support for 10-bit color depth and 4:2:2 color sampling.

To process image arrays, the Sony A6700 camera will receive a BIONZ XR processor with support for an artificial intelligence system. It is assumed that the price of the camera will be from 1500 to 2000 US dollars for a camera without a lens.

Another camera that Sony is expected to introduce is the Sony FX10 Cinema Camera . It will be the most affordable cinema camera from Sony. The device will receive an active cooling system and a 10 megapixel matrix. The optical format of the sensor is APS-C, and the BIONZ XR processor will have artificial intelligence functions similar to the Sony ZV-E1 and Sony ZV-1 II cameras.

The maximum frame rate of 4K video will be 60. In addition, recording to a memory card in 4:2:2 format with a color depth of 10 bits and output via a full-sized HDMI port will be available.

Sony FX10 will not have a mechanical shutter or matrix stabilization, and will not have an ND filter. All these changes are implemented in order to improve the active cooling system. In addition, the camera will be the lightest in the Sony FX lineup.

The  Sony A9III , the source said, will receive the most productive and high-speed autofocus, the fastest sensor reading and the highest burst rate.

The Sony A9 III will be equipped with a 50-megapixel full-frame Exmor RS BSI CMOS image sensor. It will be able to shoot continuously up to 60 frames per second and have an ISO range of 50 to 102400. Video recording will be possible in 8K at 30 frames per second and 4K at 120 frames per second with 10-bit color depth.

The Sony A9 III will feature a 3.7-million-dot electronic viewfinder that will give photographers a clear view of the scene without blackout. The new mirrorless camera will also feature a fast 759-point hybrid AF system and real-time AI-based eye AF.

To ensure stable shots in any lighting conditions or when moving, the camera will be equipped with 5-axis SteadyShot image stabilization. In addition, it will have a dual slot for CFexpress Type A and SD memory cards.
