Samyang 35-150mm F/2-2.8 FE Lens Firmware Update Released

Samyang 35-150mm F/2-2.8 FE Lens Firmware Update Released

Samyang has introduced a new firmware – Version 2 for the high-end Samyang 35-150mm F / 2-2.8 FE lens, designed for Sony full-frame cameras. The update brings the following improvements to lens performance:

  • Improved face detection AF performance when zooming in movie mode
  • Improved exposure compensation when shooting with bracketing
  • Fixed a problem with aperture control (occurred in a number of scenarios)

In order to install the update, you need to use the proprietary docking station. If it is not available (and if you bought the lens from an authorized dealer), then the update can be done in the store where the purchase was made.

The official announcement of the Samyang 35-150mm F / 2-2.8 FE lens  took place  on April 6, 2023. The optics received support for hybrid autofocus available in Sony cameras, eye autofocus, direct manual focus and an autofocus assist function.

The red ring on the Samyang AF 35-150mm F / 2-2.8 FE lens barrel indicates that it belongs to Samyang’s new premium optics segment. At the same time, the body itself has become stronger due to the use of metal in its construction.

The optical design of the Samyang AF 35-150mm F/2-2.8 consists of 21 elements in 18 groups. 12 of them are special optical elements, due to which the lens demonstrates high optical performance from wide angle to telephoto.

The minimum focusing distance of the Samyang AF 35-150mm F / 2-2.8 FE depends on the selected focal length: at 35mm it will be 33 cm, and at 150mm it will be 85 cm.

There are switches and function buttons on the lens barrel. In mode 2, the focus ring will control aperture (in the AF position). In mode 3 – you can use the “Dolly Shot” function. This means that the lens will keep focus on the subject when zoomed in, reproducing a well-known cinematic technique.
