Venus Optics is preparing to release a new ultra-wide-angle zoom in the C-Dreamer line – Laowa 8-16mm F/3.5-5.0. The manufacturer published a teaser of the future product without disclosing details (see photo in the title of the news), but a number of sources report that we are talking specifically about the aforementioned lens of the C-Dreamer line.

The manufacturing company showed a prototype of the Laowa 8-16mm F/3.5-5.0 C-Dreamer lens a few months ago. The main characteristics of the future new product are known. Optically, the new lens will consist of 16 elements in 12 groups.

There is a five-blade diaphragm, and the minimum focusing distance is 0.2 m. The lens is made entirely of metal and weighs 463 grams. The dimensions of the Laowa 8-16mm F/3.5-5.0 C-Dreamer lens are as follows: 88.3×88.54mm. And the optics looks like this:

The diameter for installing the filter is 86 mm. A new lens from Venus Optics will be released: the Laowa 8-16mm F/3.5-5.0 C-Dreamer will be for mounts on mirrorless cameras with APS-C format matrices: Sony E, Fuji X, Nikon Z, Canon R, Canon EF-M.
Thus, it will provide a full frame equivalent focal length of 12-24mm.

More detailed characteristics of the optics will be revealed during the announcement. Then the price and date of availability will become known.

Previously, the Laowa Nanomorph 65mm T2.4 and 80mm T2.4 1.5X cinema lenses were announced . In addition to the new lenses, the company will release a special 1.33X anamorphic front adapter. With its help, Laowa Nanomorph 1.5X cine lenses will be able to provide a 2X compression ratio. However, it will also work with other spherical lenses, Venus Optics reports.
