DJI Osmo Action 4 action camera unveiled

DJI has announced a next-generation action camera that supports 4K 120fps shooting, a wide 155-degree field of view, and improved low-light performance. The model will compete with the previously released GoPro 11.

Key features of the DJI Osmo Action 4 action camera

  1. 1/1.3 inch optical format matrix
  2. 155° Wide Angle Optics
  3. Two color displays: front and back
  4. Supports shooting video in UHD 4K 120 fps, 2.7K 120 fps, 1080p 240 fps
  5. Fast charge support
  6. Possibility of voice control of the camera
  7. Advanced RockSteady 3.0 Image Stabilization
  8. HorizonBalance support and HorizonSteady horizontal alignment
  9. Can dive up to 17 meters deep
  10. Built-in microphones for stereo sound recording

The action camera received a new matrix relative to the previous generation model. The CMOS sensor in the Osmo Action 4 has a 1/1.3 inch optical format with a pixel size of 2.4 µm. Potentially, this should give an increase in the quality of shooting in low light conditions.

The camera supports video recording with 10-bit color, as well as in D-Log M mode. This will enable deeper color correction of the captured video. It also supports proprietary 360-degree stabilization HorizonSteady. The camera has a special magnetic lock for switching from horizontal to vertical format.

The new action camera Osmo Action 4 will be available in two kits: Standard and Adventure.

Standard combo (price $399) Osmo Action 4

The standard kit includes a camera and a set of accessories. The Extreme battery lasts longer than standard batteries and can withstand low temperatures.

The horizontal-vertical protective frame fits over the camera and allows quick installation in horizontal (standard) or vertical (portrait) mode. It also includes multiple attachment options, including a quick-release adapter mount, a curved base that sticks to surfaces, a screw and anti-slip pad, and a lens hood and USB-C PD fast charging cable.

Adventure combo ($499) Osmo Action 4

The Adventure Combo includes the camera and everything in the Standard Combo, plus three Extreme batteries, an optional Mini adapter quick-release mount, two locking screws, a battery charging case, and a monopod with tripod (see photo below).

In addition, DJI has introduced additional accessories that will expand the range of applications of the new Osmo Action 4 action camera. You can purchase a GPS controller, a glass lens cap, and a set of neutral plane filters.

The following accessories for the new action camera are also available:

  • Bike rack
  • Neck strap
  • Surf set
  • Backpack strap attachment
  • 3.5 mm audio adapter

The drone received two cameras: wide-angle and teleoptics with 3x zoom. The new model supports a photo mode with a resolution of 48 megapixels, as well as HDR video recording with a resolution of 4K at 60 fps. The DJI Air 3 drone features a claimed flight time of up to 46 minutes, an omnidirectional obstacle detection system, and the new O4 HD video transmission system. The weight of the quadrocopter is 720 grams.

The DJI Air 3 camera supports 2.7K vertical shooting (9:16 aspect ratio) for the first time in the Air lineup. Also, the drone has the ability to take pictures with a resolution of 48 megapixels on any of the cameras.
