Chroma Six: 17 Medium Format Camera Announced

Chroma Six Medium Format Film Camera Announced: 17

Chroma Cameras has announced the announcement of a film medium format camera called the Six:17 . This innovation combines ground glass direct focusing with handheld zone focusing, providing photographers with a compact and lightweight system.

One of the most important features of the Chroma Six:17 is its fully detachable rear panel with a matte screen. This allows photographers to focus and compose each shot right on the film, giving them full control over the creation of panoramic images. In addition, a leveling bubble is built into the upper part of the main body of the camera, which greatly facilitates the composition process.

Aluminum take-up and rewind knobs are located on the top plate of the camera. There is a red light filter window on the back of the case, which can be quickly closed with a rotating physical cover, allowing fast frame changes. Thanks to the fully manual winding, it is possible to create double or multiple exposures.

The Chroma Six:17 film camera is designed to work with lenses equipped with its own shutter, since the camera itself does not have its own shutter. Lenses are mounted using special cones, each of which is designed for a specific lens model.

One of nineteen available cones is included, including cones for lenses such as the LF Topocor 150mm F/5.6 or the Rodenstock Grandagon N 90mm F/6.8. Users can also order a custom cone to suit their individual needs.

The Six:17 is very light, weighing approximately 412 grams without lens and cone. On the top plate of the camera, in addition to the standard 1/4″ tripod thread, there are three cold shoes that can be used to mount a viewfinder or rangefinder, making framing and focusing easier.

Chroma Six: 17 is available now for $539.

Let me also remind you that in March 2023, Chroma Cameras introduced an improved model of the 135-format CubePan panoramic camera. The 2023 model retains the same features as the original version, but is now more comfortable to use. The camera was named 2023 CubePan 135 Format Panoramic System.
