Oppo A96 5G: Peculiar mid-range phone with LED rings and Snapdragon 695

Oppo A96 5G

New year, new smartphones, Oppo kicks off 2022 with various device launches and announcements for all ranges and the Oppo A96 5G is the latest. Going into details, this peculiar mid-range mobile bases its main offering on a competent Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chip and a dual camera configuration surrounded by LED rings; They serve as both notification and lighting indicators for photos. If you are interested in knowing it before it reaches all the markets, you are welcome.

Oppo A96 5G, this is what it has to offer

The Oppo A96 5G clearly inspired its design in Apple’s ever-popular iPhone; that curvature and disposition of cameras give it away, but we are not here to judge a book by its cover … or a mobile phone for the style that it decides to imitate.

On the front it sports a 6.43-inch diagonal OLED panel with a conservative FullHD + resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate (with 180Hz touch sampling). In addition, it has a hole in the upper left corner for the 16MP selfie camera.

The heart of this device is a Snapdragon 695 chip , which is accompanied by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Interestingly, the mobile supports virtual expansion of RAM, which means that it can allocate 5GB of internal storage to function as RAM, although of course, with a much lower performance than if it were real memory. Anyway, the battery that powers the set has a capacity of 4,500mAh and supports 33W fast charging, so in an hour or less it will be 100% charged.

When we talk about connectivity, obviously it is a 5G device , which is also equipped with dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and USB Type-C port. The operating system is up to date, which means that it has Android 12, but naturally the interface is in charge of the Oppo UI: ColorOS 12 .

Finally, in the photographic field, the mobile focuses on quality before quantity, since it has only two rear cameras, which are broken down into a 48MP main sensor and a depth reader of only 2MP . The great novelty of these cameras is that they are surrounded by LED rings that serve as a means of notification and illumination.

Availability and price

If you know how Asian brand launches are handled, you will know what we will say. The Oppo A96 5G is already official in China , where it costs about 1,999 yuan, which at the exchange rate would be approximately 279 euros . Its launch is not yet confirmed, but it is probably only a matter of time, so wait for its announcement.
