Google Pixel 8 Pro Camera Features Revealed

Sources have revealed the characteristics of the future flagship from Google – Google Pixel 8 Pro.  It is known that a new generation smartphone will finally get a new sensor – Samsung ISOCELL GN2. The last two generations used the Samsung GN1 matrix.

The new sensor is larger. The Samsung ISOCELL GN2 matrix received an optical format of 1/1.12 inches and a resolution of 50 megapixels. The pixel size is 1.4 µm. This should improve the quality of photography and video recording on the new Google Pixel smartphones.

The second module of the main camera is ultra-wide-angle. It will differ between two models: Google Pixel 8 and Google Pixel 8 Pro. In the base model, this will be a 12 megapixel sensor of the Sony IMX386 model (optical format – 1/2.3 inches). The advanced version of the Google Pixel 8 Pro will receive a 64 megapixel matrix (Sony IMX787 sensor – 1/1.7 inches).

The source reports that the Google Pixel 8 Pro will receive a 48-megapixel periscope telemodule – ISOCELL GM5. It will provide a fivefold optical zoom. The layout of the new modules in the main camera unit of the Google Pixel 8 (right) and Google Pixel 8 Pro (left) smartphones was published:

Also, foreign media reported that the Pixel 8 Pro will receive a thermometer with a Melexis MLX90632 sensor.

In addition to the characteristics of the cameras, other details about future flagships have become known. The base model – Google Pixel 8 will receive a 6.17-inch display with a frequency of 120 Hz and support for peak brightness up to 1400 cd / m 2 . Previous base models in the line were significantly larger (6.4 inches on the Pixel 6). The display resolution is 2400×1080 with a pixel density of 427ppi.

The publication published an infographic with a comparison and characteristics of the displays of smartphones Google Pixel 8 Pro and Google Pixel 8:

It follows that the Google Pixel 8 Pro model will have the same display diagonal as the previous generation – 6.7 inches. The resolution will be 2992×1344 (490 ppi) with support for a refresh rate of 120 Hz and brightness up to 1600 cd/ m2 . It is noted that the two new smartphones will become a little more rounded on the edges and corners.

Earlier it was reported that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone received a major camera update due to flashing.

Some users have already confirmed receipt of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra firmware update. According to their feedback, the color reproduction has changed and the mode for shooting portraits with 2x zoom has improved.

This firmware also brings a number of improvements related to HDR. This was reported by Samsung itself a few weeks ago. The firmware will remove the halos that appeared in the pictures around some objects.
