Apple’s latest iOS 17 update may not be groundbreaking, but it brings a whole host of exciting new APIs. Among these innovative additions is DockKit, a powerful API that provides additional options for photo app makers and app developers alike.
This API was not shown at the main WWDC 2023 event, but it was talked about at one of the sessions. A new feature allows camera apps to control the movement of photo and video stands.
What the API allows you to do:
- Track a person’s face in real time using the camera;
- Automatically control the rotation of the stand 360 degrees;
- Real-time crop photo or video, focusing on the details;
- Control the tilt of the stands with a nod of the head.
In addition, DockKit is compatible with any application that uses the built-in iOS camera API. As a result, most applications will be able to use this new feature without the need for major upgrades.
The new DockKit API can be used not only in the field of video or photo, blogging. It uses the Vision platform to accurately track movements and can therefore be used during fitness, interactive games and more.
