Yamaha has taken a more radical path and announced the replacement of the HDMI 2.1 board in the RX-A2A, RX-V6A and RX-V4A receivers.
The promotion will last 24 months, with detailed instructions for consumers to be announced this summer.
The company also added that the new HDMI card is only required if you plan to connect an Xbox Series X console or device with an Nvidia RTX30 graphics card for 4K / 120Hz transmission through the AV receiver. However, we advise you to ignore this instruction. The point is that the problem lies not in the external equipment, but in the AV-receivers themselves, or rather, in the HDMI cards. If they are not replaced, problems may arise when connecting them to completely different devices in the future.
Yamaha also added that the issue with defective boards does not affect the second generation of HDMI 2.1 AV receivers announced recently. These are the RX-A4A, RX-A6A and RX-A8A models.
