Yamaha CD-S303: CD Player with Pure Direct Mode and USB Compatibility

According to the manufacturer, the Yamaha CD-S303 CD player inherits many characteristics from other high-end models. In addition to disks, the player can play music from USB-drives. The company promised high quality in any mode of use.

Among the main features in Yamaha highlighted the thoughtful layout of the turntable. The power supplies for the motor drive, display and USB sections, as well as digital and analog sections, are individually isolated to avoid interference between them.

Emphasis was also placed on short signal paths, straight conductors between sections and high quality “well matched” elements, including a low noise, high bandwidth preamplifier and damping material under the transformer and around the signal cables.

The DAC used in the CD-S303 supports 24-bit / 192kHz quality. The front USB port allows you to connect MP3, WMA, LPCM, AAC or FLAC media.

To compensate for problems caused by warped discs, dust and other defects, the CD-S303 uses a dedicated processor to monitor the signal, adjust head tracking and focus, and spindle motor speed.

Among other things, the player has received a Pure Direct mode: pressing the corresponding button on the front panel or on the remote control turns off the digital audio output and turns off the display for minimal noise.
