The well-known Italian manufacturer of tube audio equipment Unison Research has presented a new Unison Research Simply 845 integrated amplifier at the Axpona 2023 exhibition now in the USA . The output stages of the amplifier are implemented on 845 direct-heated triodes and operate in pure class A. Thus, we can say that we have a real classic of tube amplification, capable of giving emotions for which they love the “lamp”.
The pre-amplification stages are implemented on a pair of ECC82 double triodes and a pair of 12AU7. The Unison Research Simply 845 integrated amplifier develops up to 23 watts when driven into a load with a nominal impedance of 6 ohms. The developers paid special attention to the volume control, because they believe that the sound quality is largely determined by this particular element. The Unison Research Simply 845 uses a Japanese-made ALPS RK27 motorized potentiometer for volume control.
Like any self-respecting tube manufacturer, Unison Research designs and handcrafts its own output transformers, the heart of any tube amplifier. The new Unison Research Simply 845 is equipped with four line inputs, made on high-quality gold-plated RCA connectors. The amplifier also offers a stereo line output for connecting a tape recorder and an adjustable stereo (!) output for an active subwoofer.
Traditionally for Unison Research, the Simply 845 integrated amplifier is very compact – its dimensions are only 37 x 26 x 57 cm. At the same time, the device weighs more than 30 kg – high-quality transformers cannot be light! The design follows the best Italian tradition – the combination of stainless steel with black lacquer and brushed metal finish is complemented by walnut or cherry wood panels.
The world premiere of the Unison Research Simply 845 tube integrated amplifier will take place at Axpona 2023 in the USA. In mid-May, the new product will be shown at the High End Show 2023 in Munich, but the amplifier should go on sale before the opening of the exhibition. The suggested retail price for the Unison Research Simply 845 amplifier is 8,900 euros .
