Rotel RSP-1576MKII and RAP-1580MKII announced

The Rotel RSP-1576MKII and RAP-1580MKII are the latest products from the well-known manufacturer, which feature Room Correction technology. That technology is used for precise calibration and configuration of the sound. The RSP-1576MKII supports home theaters up to 7.1.4 channels for Dolby Atmos and DTS: X audio formats using the latest Texas Instruments quad core DSP (digital signal processor).

The surround processor uses six Wolfson DACs (digital audio converters) and is equipped with Dirac Live Full Room Correction and a measuring microphone. Dirac Live allows automatic frequency and time domain adjustments from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. This way, every home cinema can be set as desired. Like all Rotel products, Balanced Design Concept is the basic principle of the development. Thanks to the custom-built and in-house toroidal transformer, this ensures low distortion, noise cancellation and acoustic tuning of all crucial audio circuits. The RSP-1576MKII has seven video inputs (HDMI, 4K and HDR) and two video outputs (HDMI, 4K and HDR). The video processing is complemented by various audio inputs, including XLR, PC-USB (24-bit / 192k), optical (three pieces), coaxial (three pieces),

The setup functions are located on the HDMI display and also on the front display, making it easy to configure the system even if the device is installed in a different location in a rack. This Surround Sound Processor works well with Rotels portfolio of class AB power amplifiers; thanks to a heavy toroidal transformer, these amplifiers deliver enough power:

  • Multi-channel
    • RMB-1585 (5 x 200W)
    • RMB-1555 (5 x 120W)
    • RMB-1506 (6 x 50W)
    • RMB-1504 (4 x 70W)
  • 2-Channel
    • RB-1590 (2 x 350W)
    • RB-1582MKII (2 x 200W)
    • RB-1552MKII (2 x 120W)

The Rotel RAP-1580MKII Amplified Surround Processor has seven channels of Class AB amplification. This amplifier uses a heavy duty toroidal transformer and high capacity slit foil capacitors. The output power is 100 Watts per channel, on all seven channels in the full frequency range from 20Hz to 20Khz. Texas Instruments’ latest quad-core DSP and six Wolfson 24-bit / 192 kHz DACs popular with audio enthusiasts ensure audio performance meets the highest acoustic standards. The DSP and DACs are supported with finely tuned components that provide detailing and accurate placement.

In addition, there is also support and a license for Dirac Live LE Room Correction, which enables adjustments in the frequency range from 20 Hz to 500 Hz. Using the supplied calibration microphone, the Dirac software measures and calculates the DSP coefficients for an unaffected listening experience. A range of source inputs are available, including optical, coaxial, analog, XLR, iPod USB, PC-USB (24/192), apt-X Bluetooth for high-quality wireless streaming, and a Moving Magnet Phono input for classic vinyl enthusiasts . Of the eight HDMI inputs, seven are on the back and one on the front, with three HDMIs supporting 4K / HDR pass-through and two HDMI outputs supporting 4K / HDR.

There are several flexible amplifier configuration options, allowing the internal amplifiers to be used for the top and surround channels. For example, another amplifier can be used for the main channels, this way this amplifier offers a lot of flexibility to use other audiophile amplifiers. The graphic display on the front makes it easy to read the status and configure all setting options.

Control system integration of both the RSP-1576MKII and RAP-1580MKII is via RS232 and IP Ethernet connections, thanks in part to software updates, three assignable, independent 12V trigger outputs, wired IR input and output, and a custom rack mounting kit.

Price and availability

The Rotel RSP-1576MKII and the RAP-1580MKII are available in both silver and black. The RSP-1576MKII will be available from September 2020 and the RAP-1580MKII will follow in October 2020. The suggested retail prices for the new models are 3000 euros and 4300 euros respectively.
