The British company Origin Live has introduced a new model of the Swift Mk5 passive turntable , which received an updated platter.
The turntable is equipped with a Multi Layer Platter (MLP) platter , first used in Voyager ‘s flagship model . In addition to the use of several layers of acrylic and composite material, the surface of the disk has many transverse notches, which additionally contribute to the removal of vibrations from the record.
The model also uses the original single-point hard suspension, which combines the best qualities of two approaches – a soft spring suspension and a hard body. The high quality, low friction bearing provides three times longer free-running of the disc when it is started by hand than the competition.
The Origin Live Swift Mk5 turntable sells for £2290 in the UK market , the Origin Live Zephyr Mk4 tonearm pictured is sold separately for £1080 .
