McIntosh MI1250: New 12-Channel Power Amplifier

MI1250

The new 12-channel digital distribution amplifier brings McIntosh’s legendary sound quality to A/V systems and custom installations everywhere. Offering 50 watts of power into 8 ohms and 90 into 4, power is distributed via highly sophisticated closed-loop digital switching amplifiers that are paired with robust power supplies.

The MI1250 features installer-friendly, rack-mountable dimensions and, as a highly efficient Class D amplifier, does not require noisy cooling fans to maintain nominal operating temperature. On the front panel, multi-colour LED indicators display the status of each channel. On the back, unbalanced inputs are located with two-pole Phoenix-style push-in speaker terminals for each channel, along with volume controls plus four digital inputs: two optical and two coaxial.

MI1250 Front

The MI1250 also benefits from several proprietary McIntosh technologies including: Power Guard® signal-overload technology that prevents speaker overdrive; Sentry Monitor™ short-circuit protection circuit that disengages the output stage before current exceeds safe operating levels, automatically resetting; BUS input and outputs to easily distribute the stereo signal to multiple outputs and/or multiple amplifiers and 12-volt triggering.

MI1250 Back

An eco-friendly on/off signal-sensor powers the unit off if no input signal has been detected for a set amount of time and automatically turns the amp on when a signal is sensed.

The MI1250 includes numerous McIntosh design cues, including a black-glass front panel, housing an illuminated McIntosh logo, plus the familiar form factor complemented by silver trim.

Price and availability

The MI1250 will start shipping from November 2021 (UK). Orders can be placed with Authorised McIntosh dealers now, £4,995.
