Garmin buys JL Audio

Garmin has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire JL Audio , an American company best known for its caraudio subwoofers. In addition, we know JL Audio audio solutions for ships and equipment for sports cars and RVs. The JL Audio portfolio includes premium audio products and accessories, including loudspeakers, amplifiers, subwoofers and other audio components.

Garmin is a well-known technology company of the world level. In a press release distributed to customers worldwide, JL Audio President Andy Oxenhorn explained:“Over the past few years, Lucio Proni, Jeff Scoon and I have been planning the future of JL Audio. We wanted to make sure the company is set up to thrive and continue to serve our customers in line with the vision of founder Lucio Proni. This will require finding the right buyer to take JL Audio into the future. Garmin management shares JL Audio’s commitment to innovation and engineering, and they are focused on delivering unique technology solutions to customers around the world. They understand, appreciate and want to develop everything that has made us a great audio company.”

Cliff Pemble , President and CEO of Garmin, added, “JL Audio’s extensive audio expertise will create new opportunities to deliver premium audio features across our wide range of markets and products. The JL Audio brand is known the world over for delivering superior sound quality, made possible by their talented and dedicated staff. We look forward to welcoming the JL Audio team to the Garmin family.”

JL Audio is headquartered in Miramar, Florida and employs over 600 people. This acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of 2023 and is subject to the usual regulatory approvals and terms of sale. The company says that all existing JL Audio products will continue to be supported after the change of ownership, and that customers can expect the same excellent customer service going forward.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
